New devolution deals for the region have been unveiled, with plans for two elected mayors in the region. The new deals – one for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and one for Norfolk and Suffolk – have been supported by council leaders after the previous deal – which joined all councils under one mayor – was rejected by several councils. The Government has said that if either deal is accepted then devolution will go ahead in that area, even if the other deal is rejected.
