Judith Blake: Brexit calls for “decisive” action on Yorkshire devolution

Category: Yorkshire

The Leader of Leeds City Council, Judith Blake has called for “bold and decisive action” from Yorkshire’s councils to agree a devolution deal in the wake of the UK’s vote to leave the EU. In a report, due to be considered by the council this week, Judith Blake says that there is a stronger case for devolving more responsibilities to local government now that central Government is set to be dominated by the UK’s exit from the EU, and even argues that concentrating decision-making at a local level will help address the discontent with politics which some say fuelled the vote to leave the EU.
