Following the UK’s vote to leave the EU, we have a new Prime Minister. In her speech on the steps of Number 10 Downing Street, Theresa May said she planned to “help not one or even two of our great regional cities but every single one of them”. With Theresa May’s appointment and George Osborne’s exit from the Treasury, the MP for Brigg and Goole, Andrew Percy has been appointed as the new Minister for the Northern Powerhouse. He has already undertaken his first official tour of the North to reaffirm the Government’s commitment to the Northern Powerhouse. Commercial Secretary to the Treasury, Lord O’Neill of Gatley, will continue as the Northern Powerhouse’s representative in the Treasury.
