Warrington considers joining the Liverpool City Region devolution deal

Category: Liverpool City Region

Warrington councillors are in discussions with Merseyside leaders after the Cheshire and Warrington ‘Growth Deal’ has taken a backfoot. However, a Cheshire business leader said that Warrington’s status as a “big fish in a small pond’” would be reversed if it joints Liverpool City Region.

Warrington has close connections to Liverpool City Region, being on the river Mersey, and councillors are keen to benefit from opportunities presented by devolution. It is, according to Paul Taylor, vice chairman of Cheshire Business Leaders group, the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Cheshire.
