Sheffield City Region deal in trouble

Category: Sheffield City Region

Despite being one of the earlier regions to sign a deal, Sheffield’s City Region’s may now be in trouble. Doncaster’s deputy mayor, Glyn Jones, said mayoral elections in May are now ‘highly improbable’, according to the LGC.

This follows Derbyshire County Council saying they will take legal action against Sheffield City Region Combined Authority over Chesterfield’s part in the proposed deal. It is one of the more complex deals, crossing county lines, and with Bassetlaw and Chesterfield Borough Councils controversially voting to become full members.
