Peter, an economist and statistician with degrees from Cambridge and London Universities, is co-founder and director of the New Policy Institute, an independent think tank specialising in data-rich analysis and commentary on UK society and its economy. Over its 20 years, NPI has produced nearly 200 reports for a wide range of funders, including local government, trade unions and anti-poverty charitable foundations.
A frequent public speaker, lecturer and commentator, Peter is a regular contributor of written and oral evidence to Parliamentary Committees across the UK. In the last parliament, he was a member of the Steering Group for Lord Low’s Review of the removal of DLA mobility from disabled people in state-funded care. He has been a member of the Welsh Government’s Child Poverty Expert Group. He served as a special adviser to the House of Lords Committee on the Barnett Formula.
